Richard Evans
HALO Mozambique Programme Manager


Richard joined HALO in May 2008 and trained in Sri Lanka before moving to Cambodia, where he became Location Manager at Anlong Veng on the northern border.  In October 2008 he went to Afghanistan as the Operations Officer for the central region which encompassed Kabul and Parwan Provinces, before moving on to Herat, on the Iranian border, where he managed HALO operations in the western region until February 2011.

 



Lordes Zavala
HALO Mozambique Operations Officer

Lordes joined HALO in 1993 as a supervisor for the initial countrywide survey. He then returned to his studies before rejoining HALO in 1999. He was the programme survey officer before promotion to Location Manager in Zambezia, Cabo Delgado then Zambezia/Niassa. In 2007, following HALO’s relocation to Maputo he became Programme Operations Officer. Lordes is the most senior member of the national staff. He is originally from the province of Inhambane but moved to Maputo during the civil war where he trained as a tailor with ADPP which included some time in Demark. During Prince Harry’s visit, Lordes spent two days showing the Prince HALO operations in minefields and giving some training on humanitarian demining drills. He is married with four children.



Rogério de Araujo Lobo
HALO Mozambique Finance Officer

Rogerio joined HALO in 1997 in Zambezia as the location administrator. He was very quickly moved to the programme headquarters in Nampula and in 2000 he was promoted to the position of programme Finance Officer. Rogerio is originally from Nampula but has relocated with his wife and daughter to Maputo.




Albertino Alfredo Jimo
HALO Mozambique Logistics Officer

Jim was HALO Mozambique’s first employee, joining in 1993. He has been based in Maputo and represented HALO in the capital when the programme was located in the North of the country. Before the programme relocated, the Maputo office was based at his home for over ten years. Jim is married with six children and also runs a successful chicken farm.




Geraldo Pedro Jamal
HALO Mozambique Survey Officer

Geraldo first joined HALO in 1997 as a minefield supervisor in Niassa province, before being promoted to a survey role in 1999. In 2003 he moved to Nampula as a storeman and then became the location accountant. He returned to operations in 2007 as a survey supervisor for the Baseline Assessment and took on overall responsibility for survey in 2009. Geraldo has relocated with his wife and two children to Maputo, and is studying law at night school.




Anselmo João Vasco
HALO Mozambique Fleet Manager

Anselmo joined HALO in 1997 to manage the programme’s fleet of Land Rovers, trucks and plant machinery. In the last 13 years he has been responsible for the training of many mechanics and the maintenance of the HALO Mozambique fleet. He is originally from Zambizia and is married with eight children.
