HALO's role

The HALO Trust is one of the world's largest humanitarian mine clearance NGOs with about 6,000 staff operating in fifteen countries and four territories.

One of the most challenging programmes is The West Bank, where both Israelis and Jordanians laid minefields during the 1960s. In our work to clear these minefields over the last few years, we have built trust across religious, cultural and political divides and secured the approval of the Israelis, Palestinians and churches to make the clearance of the Baptism Site possible.

We are now embarking on a global campaign to raise funds for this unique project, which will benefit the churches and pilgrims of all denominations.
