Weapons & Ammunition Disposal

Guided weapons, especially surface to air missiles, can have regional security implications with their use resulting in wide reaching consequences.

Therefore HALO works with partner governments to destroy unwanted and degraded guided missiles, and to properly secure those weapons that the authorities wish to retain. This flexible approach has resulted in the destruction of more than 1,500 guided missiles by HALO. These missiles have ranged from the total destruction of Cambodia’s stockpile of SAM7 Man Portable Air Defence Systems (MANPADS), to the dismantling and destruction of SA2 (Guideline/Dyvina missiles) from air bases across Angola and the destruction of SA3 Goa/Pechura missiles in Afghanistan.

HALO has also destroyed thousands of aircraft bombs, often using their explosive power to destroy other munitions in the process.
