The people of Nagorno Karabakh have been haunted by the presence of landmines for more than two decades as a result of the 1988-94 Nagorno Karabakh War. But thanks to your incredible support, we have been working to destroy these deadly explosives and ensure families can look forward to a safer future.
In Norashen village, children walked to school on a path where anti-tank mines were discovered. A mine this size could destroy an entire bus. Thanks to you, HALO has now cleared an area the size of 181 football pitches around the village and the children can walk to school safely.
Romanos moved to Meghvadzor to start a new life with his wife and five children—but the landmines surrounding the village left him terrified for their safety. Thanks to you, the minefields are now being cleared and Romanos is using the land to graze his cattle and house his 100 beehives.
These are just two examples of how people have been able to rebuild their lives thanks to your generosity. Read our full 2019 Impact Report to discover the difference you have made to the people of Nagorno Karabakh.
