Thirty-one Senators sign appropriations letter, led by Senator Bob Menendez, supporting funding for demining in Nagorno Karabakh
This month, Senate Foreign Relations Ranking Member Bob Menendez submitted a letter to the Senate State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Subcommittee requesting $1.5 million in the Fiscal Year 2021 budget for USAID’s humanitarian demining program in Nagorno Karabakh. In a record level of support for HALO, thirty other senators also signed the letter.
In addition, the letter requests support for rehabilitation services for victims of landmine accidents and for an independent survey of remaining landmine contamination in Nagorno Karabakh. This will help help determine the remaining threat these explosives pose to local populations.
