About us

HALO's mission is to protect lives and restore the livelihoods of those affected by conflict.

The HALO Trust is a UK-based charity that clears and manages explosives around the world. We work alongside The HALO Trust USA, a separate legal entity set up to raise funds for our global activities.

For over 35 years, we've been making land safe and saving lives. We help communities around the world to recover from the impact of war.

When conflict ends, land is often left littered with dangerous explosives. Families live in fear and poverty. They can't plant crops or graze cattle safely. Day-to-day activities like getting to school or fetching water can be high risk. True peace doesn't come until their land is safe.

Our work in action

Our local staff

We recruit and train local men and women to clear landmines in their own communities. This income can help them to rebuild their lives. Some people buy livestock, plant crops, or start a business. This puts them back in control of their lives.

We're proud that 95% of our 8,000+ employees come from the communities we serve.
