Governance
The HALO Trust's global headquarters are in the UK. HALO USA and HALO Europe are separate entities with their own boards of trustees. We all work together to protect lives and help families affected by conflict get back on their feet.
How your money is spent
HALO takes pride in ensuring that best value is achieved with the money you donate. From fundraisers who take on a challenge, to those who donate their birthday or give regularly, we are enormously grateful to everyone that supports our work. We know you share our commitment to protecting lives and restoring livelihoods, but we do not take your support for granted.
At least 90p of every £1 you donate goes directly to transforming the lives of families affected by conflict across the world.

Medical governance
HALO’s medical governance is guided by a group of highly experienced NHS professionals, who volunteer their time to support our work in the field.
Although accidents involving HALO's work in the minefields are thankfully rare, our work deals with explosives, which are fundamentally dangerous. The local staff we train as paramedics therefore play an integral role in every HALO team. Their work is governed by standards and policies which are set by our Medical Board.
The board is led by Jane Davis, a highly experienced nurse and retired Colonel in the Army Reserve. It is a group of international surgeons and doctors, including trauma specialists and paramedic instructors, who volunteer their time to support our work in the field. They set the standards across all our programmes, to ensure the health and wellbeing of our staff and develop training courses for our minefield paramedics. We are enormously grateful to them all for their dedication to HALO.
Our paramedics are trained to deliver emergency trauma care for victims of landmines and other explosives. They learn to deal with all aspects of initial care, from the immediate stabilisation of the casualty, to safe transport and delivery to hospital. As our teams often work in remote locations, our paramedics are also responsible for the day-to-day wellbeing of all programme staff.
Safeguarding
Effective safeguarding is fundamental to HALO’s work. As an ethical and humanitarian charity, we seek to ensure that we do not harm anyone who works for, or who comes into contact with HALO. We actively promote welfare, wellbeing and the right behaviours.
