26th June 2018 | Syria | Fundraising

On Saturday 23rd June, over 250 people joined us at HALO HQ to Walk for Syria. The weather was kind and spirits were high as we set off on a 30km hike through the Dumfriesshire hills. Re-live some of the highlights of the day in our photo story.

REGISTRATION GETS UNDERWAY

The first walkers start congregating bright and early—ready and raring to go!

SAVING LIVES IN SYRIA

James Cowan talks about the life saving difference your support will make to families in Syria.

AND WE'RE OFF!

HALO's Walk for Syria gets underway. Everyone looks fresh and ready to tackle the 30km!

CAMILLA & JAMIE TAKE A LEAP

Many thanks to Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt who joined us to Walk for Syria.

TOSTIG LEADS THE WAY

A big congratulations to all our four-legged friends who completed the 30km—including Tostig with Simon Conway, our Director of Strategy.

UP AND OVER

The hikers stride out through the beautiful hills around our HQ. A few of you got lost along the way but all made it home safely!

THE MINI-WALKERS SET OFF

Our smallest walkers set off on their own adventure at 11.30am, conquering the 3km and having lots of fun of course.

LEADHILLS PLAYGROUP

A huge thank you to Leadhills Playgroup who brought 17 children to join in our Walk for Syria—an amazing effort all round!

KEEPING IN TOUCH

A big thank you to AST Systems and Iridium for keeping us safe and connected by providing us with Iridium PTT handsets.

HEADING OFF TRACK

Lloyds Motor Group kindly loaned us two shiny new Landrover Discoveries—perfect for heading off track to find those lost walkers!

STRIDING OUT

Our CEO James Cowan and trustee Paddy Beeley hit their stride on the 30km route.

PRIMETECH SUPPORT HALO

Emilio Canales from Primetech flew over to join the Walk for Syria. We have been working with Primetech in Sri Lanka to adapt their machinery to help with minefield clearance.

KEEPING COOL

Still looking fresh faced on the 30km hike! The weather was fantastic, no rain in sight.

ON ROUTE

HALO's Head of ICT, Luan Jaupi, and his son Daniel take on the Walk for Syria together.

THE FINAL FURLONG

Tim Porter, Regional Director for the Middle East, joins up with Will to put in an impressive finish for the final 7km.

CROSSING THE FINISHING LINE

Whether walking 3km, 15km, or the epic 30km, crossing the finishing line was an amazing achievement.

EDGEHILL 4 HALO CONQUER THE 30KM

Walking in memory of Dr. Tim Cherry, The Edgehill4HALO team (Barry, Jonathan, Robert and Charlie) took both the fundraising and walk by storm!

TIME FOR A REST!

Foot sore and weary, it's time for a lie down after crossing the finish. Congratulations to everyone who 'Walked for Syria.'
