Like Suzana, over 80 per cent of the women employed as part of HALO's 100 Women in Demining in Angola are single mothers. By joining the project, not only are they making their country safe, they learn new skills and earn a living wage. For Suzana, this is her first formal job, allowing her to support her young daughter Emilsy.
