Kavi and her grandmother were displaced during the Sri Lankan Civil War. For 21 long years they were unable to return to their home in Intherapuram Village. A vast minefield, left in the wake of the war, prevented her and other displaced residents from safely returning home. HALO has now cleared sections of the village, allowing Kavi and her family to return home and start life anew. But the remaining landmines are still a threat. You can help us finish the job and give them a future completely free from fear and danger.
In 2014, over 140 countries pledged to clear their borders of landmines by 2025, agreeing to ‘finish the job’. We only have five short years to the end of 2025, and millions of families still threatened by landmines need our support.
Together, we can make #Landminefree a reality and give families across the world the gift of a landmine-free future.
"It is typically the most vulnerable who are at the greatest risk; those attempting to rebuild their lives or returning home after conflict, where food is in short supply and medical services are often limited.Too many communities remain shackled in a cycle of poverty and fear. But it doesn’t need to be this way. "
